Hi, How Are You?

about this site

Registered in April 1995, slacker.com serves no real purpose. It's the personal domain of David McNett and the primary domain for several of his friends and acquaintances.

It is somehow quite appropriate that slacker.com neither aspires to nor manages to provide any useful content or features. At best it's just a really cool vanity domain for some folks who can get away with an @slacker.com email address.

Over the course of its life, there have been exactly three offers to purchase the domain. The most serious was a skateboarder apparel company. Thankfully, the overlap of "companies with cash" and "companies who might be interested in the slacker.com domain" is incredibly small. The domain is not for sale and the current owner is really glad he's never been tempted with enough money to consider a sale. Everything's got its price and all, but we're remarkably fond of the domain.

The slacker domain was chosen in tribute to filmmaker Richard Linklater for his film of the same name. Accordingly, the hosts within slacker.com also conform to this unofficial naming convention. There's dazed.slacker.com, the unix server as well as confused.slacker.com the Win2K server. Personal workstations at Slacker NOC include sunrise and suburbia. If you haven't seen any of Linklater's films, you should.

slacker.com accounts and email forwards are not generally available.
